A brief report about The Second US-Japan Meeting on Autoimmune Liver Diseases 第2回日米自己免疫性肝疾患会議 報告1
以下にプログラムを紹介します。
- この会議は香川医科大学第3内科 西岡幹夫教授がKrawitt教授(Vermont)やWiesner教授(Mayo)らと自己免疫性肝疾患に関する本を出版する際にハワイでミーティングをもたれ、その際に日米の研究者に集まってもらって小さな会をやろうということで始まりました。それが、1997年の6月のことです。今年は第2回にあたり、もう少し規模を大きくして行われることになりました。場所は今回も第1回に引き続きハワイのオアフ島ノースショアにあるTurtle Bay Hiltonです。
- 日本からは戸田剛太郎教授、井上恭一教授、大西三朗教授も参加され、アメリカからはGershwin教授(カルフォルニア大学デイビス校)、Krawitt教授、Wiesner教授、Tsai教授(ハワイ大学)らが参加され、全部で約30人が参加しました。
- 演題はAutoimmune hepatitis, Primary sclerosing cholangitis, Primary biliary cirrhosisに関してのもので、それぞれレベルの高い内容でした。
- 特別講演はRussell H. Wiesner: "Primary sclerosing cholangitis and its reccurrence following liver transplantation.", ME Gershwin: "Molecular and mechanistics considerations of primary biliary cirrhosis."が行われました。
- 特別企画として"Progress in the study of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)."に関して西岡教授とKrawitt教授が話した後、若い先生方が”Diagnostic criteria of autoimmune hepatitis."について何人か発表し、戸田教授が全部をまとめて話をするというセッションが行われました。新しい診断基準を提案するところまではいきませんでしたが、今のAIHの診断基準についてみんながどう思っているのか率直な考えが披露されました。
- すべて、非常に和やかな雰囲気の中で、自由にディスカッションが行われ、みんな言いたいことを言うというどちらかというとアメリカンスタイルで進行し、とても実り多い会議となりました。Tsai教授もみんなの英語のレベルが非常に高いといっていました。Closing RemarksでKrawitt教授がSuccessfulだったといってくれた時は事務局を担当したものとしてほっと胸をなで下ろしました。参加された皆さんにこの場を借りて感謝したいと思います。
