神奈川歯科大学は、南東アジア地域の国で貧困・紛争・自然災害など様々な要因で口腔衛生活動や歯科治療が行き届かない人々に対して、歯科医療のボランティア活動を行っています。2009年度KDC-SASは、1年間に90名の団員を派遣、5000名以上の患者の予防指導・手術・歯科治療を実施しました。活動地域、内容は、タイ王国バンコク、プーケットの予防、フィリピン・ドマゲッティー市の口唇口蓋裂手術、ラオス・ビエンチャン県の歯科治療です。活動の地域、内容も徐々に拡大してきました、これも支援して下さる協力者の皆様のお陰と総務省関係のボランティア助成の賜です。
2010年度は、KDC-SASは一層の内容の充実をはかり、多くの若い歯科医師、歯科医療関係者に参加して頂き、活動をとおしてアジア地域の国の人々と交流を拡げていきたいと考えております。タイの政治的混迷に象徴されるように、私達の活動も時として計画の変更や中止を余儀なくされることもありますが、実行委員会では十分な調査と危機管理を心掛け、対応していく所存です。

Kanagawa Dental College? has been working together with people in Southeast Asia and providing volunteer dental care to unprivileged people and to people who are victims of natural disasters or civil unrest in their country.
In 2009, KDC-SAS sent out 90 volunteer participants from Japan and treated over 5000 people in those countries. We provided caries prevention education in Phuket, Thailand, we did orofacial defect (cleft lip and cleft palate) surgeries in Dumaguete, the Philippines, and we did dental care treatment in Vientiane Province, Laos. Our activities and the area in which we are working isare expanding. I believe that this is a joint effort with supporters like you. We continue our efforts to establish and maintain good relationship with many countries with support and understanding for volunteer activities provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan.
In 2010, KDC-SAS would like to enhance its activities and its communications with people in Southeast Asia through our volunteer dental care activities. We expect many young dentists and dental-care professionals to join us and enrich their international experience.
The troubled political climate in Thailand at the present time may require us to change our plans and to redirect our activities to different locations. Our leadership will study the conditions carefully and will take the precautionary measures needed to avoid any critical situations.
